In "Take the Cannoli", Sarah Vowell is a former christian who becomes a free-thinking teenager. She reminds me of myself. In a way, I consider her to be a kindred spirit. Her father, however seems like a total prick. He's stubborn, old fashioned, and phillistine. i struggle very much with him. I don't mind people with different political views than I do, but I very much mind it when people are ignorant and intollerant. So far, her father is the only person that I struggle with in the book. Her father reminds me of people that I went to catholic school with. A lot of them were extremeists and scared the hell out of me. I have made a few desicions that i now regret. One of them is going to catholic school. I have had a very hard time with religion. It just seems old, tired and irrelevent. So far, "Take the Cannoli" has been a very interesting read, and I admire Sarah Vowell's audacity.
