In my book, They Poured Fire on Us, the character Alepho, does some things that really bothered me when I read them. He talks about how he would always mess with his older brother Benson. Alepho mentions how Benson is a very polite and quiet kid who does not complain much. I understand most brothers that are somewhat close in age tend to have friendly rivalries but I felt that Alepho would take it too far sometimes. He mentions on page 11 that when their mom served them food, Alepho would lie to his mom and tell her that Benson already ate just so he couldn’t eat. He also mentions how one time his older sister gave Benson her meal, but he sat there and didn’t eat it because it was missing an ingredient and tasted bad without it. He would also eat his food really quick and say he never got any to get more. Another thing that bothers me about Alepho is how lazy he is and rude he is. He mentions on page 12 that he would persuade people to cook for him by saying “I like your cooking.” When guest would come to his house he would ask them questions like, “What do you want in our house? You come to steal goats or something?” All of this behavior seems like something a child would do, but kids the same age as Alepho don’t act like. I would think he would be a hardworking and polite person according to all of the other people around him.
Throughout my life I usually make decisions very carefully just so that I won’t regret them later on. I know it sounds cliché to live with no regrets, but all of the things that I regret doing or not doing are too insignificant for me to even realize or remember what they were. If I had to pick one of the top of my head it would be last Saturday when my family wanted me to go to a Journey concert with them. I only like one song by Journey so I didn’t want to see them. They even had an extra ticket for me to go, but I just stayed at my cousins and hung out with him for the day. They called during the concert during the one song I somewhat enjoy, which is don’t stop believing, and it sounded like they were having a blast. Me and my cousin kind of just sat around all day doing nothing, so I kind of regret not going. It would be pretty cool to say I saw Journey in concert but I messed that up, I don’t regret it that much though.
